2026 Oldest Water Heater Contest Official Rules

These rules apply to the 2026 Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating Oldest Water Heater Contest.

Contest Period

The contest begins August 1, 2026. All entries must be received by midnight on Monday, August 31, 2026.

The winner is expected to be selected by approximately September 18, 2026. The winner will be contacted before any public or media announcement is made.

Eligibility

• The contest is open to owner-occupied, single-family homes, condos, and townhomes within the Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating service area in Grand County.
• Entrants must be legal adults.
• Entrants must be homeowners who are fully authorized to make purchasing and home improvement decisions for the residence.
• The entered water heater must be in operating condition and currently providing hot water to the home.
• Employees of Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating and their family members are not eligible.

How to Enter

1. Call Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating at 970-627-3441 and request to enter the Oldest Water Heater Contest.
2. Take a clear photo of the water heater’s complete manufacturer data plate or nameplate.
3. Text or email the photo using the submission instructions provided by Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating.
4. Arrange for a Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating representative to visit the property and verify the entry in person.

The submitted photograph should clearly show the water heater’s make, model, and serial number. Photos that are blurry, obscured, incomplete, or affected by glare may not provide enough information to register the entry.

Submitting a photograph registers the entry, but the entry is not officially eligible to win until a Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating representative has inspected the water heater and verified its manufacturer information, installation, age, and operating condition in person.

A replacement quote will be provided at the time of the inspection.

No fee or purchase is required to enter.

Winner Selection

The winner will be selected based on the information collected during the entry and inspection process, including the water heater’s age, use, appearance, and the best judgment of Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating staff.

All decisions made by Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating are final.

The winner will be informed before any public announcement. The winning entry may subsequently be announced on grandlakeplumbing.com and Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating social media channels.

Winner’s Prize

The winning entrant will receive a $1,500 credit toward the purchase and installation of a new water heater.

• The credit is non-transferable.
• The credit may only be applied toward the purchase and installation of a new water heater.
• The credit cannot be redeemed for cash.
• The winning installation should be completed by October 31, 2026, with a target completion date in mid-October.

The winning entrant is responsible for the cost of any required hazardous-material removal or abatement, including asbestos removal, and for any code-compliance upgrades required for the new installation. These costs will be discussed with the homeowner in advance.

Credit for Other Entrants

Every eligible entrant who does not receive the grand prize will receive a $100 credit toward a new water heater installation.

• The $100 credit must be used by December 31, 2026.
• The credit is non-transferable.
• The credit may only be applied toward the purchase and installation of a new water heater.
• The credit cannot be redeemed for cash.

Publicity

The winning entrant agrees to allow Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating to use photographs or video of the old and new water heaters and the homeowner’s name in promotional materials unless the homeowner chooses to opt out.

Communications and Privacy

Entrants agree to receive follow-up communications from Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating regarding the contest, inspection, replacement options, and contest results.

Entrant information will not be shared with other companies. Entrants may opt out of future communications at any time.
