Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating Company is a family owned and operated company that has been serving the plumbing and heating needs of Grand & Routt County since Gus Spitzmiller, a traveling plumber, homesteaded in the Grand Lake area around 1906.

His son Gordon Spitzmiller carried on the business upon Gus’s retirement. Frank Appelhans came to work for Gordon in 1973. Frank eventually took over sole ownership upon Gordon’s passing in 1990. The Appelhans Family continues to carry on the Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating tradition.

Today, Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating is a leader in our contracting community offering: Design/build plumbing and heating services, design, service, and installation of hydronic radiant in-floor heating systems, installation and service of water well systems, complete mechanical contracting and a dedicated service department. Our work is in New Construction, the service of commercial and residential plumbing and heating systems accounts for a large part of our business throughout the Grand & Routt County area.

Grand Lake Plumbing & Heating employs a full-time support staff of office personnel, dedicated project managers and warehouse employees to field your questions along with retail and parts counter to service your needs through the construction process.
