FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long have you been in business?

Grand Lake Plumbing Company has been around since 1920!

In what area's do you provide service?

With our office and shop based a few miles south of Grand Lake, Colorado, we proudly serve all of Grand County including the towns of Grand Lake, Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling and the surrounding areas.

What is your hourly rate?

When you pay service technicians by the hour instead of by the job, you're likely to get slow and inefficient service for which you shouldn't have to pay.  Becasue we charge by the job, and not the hour, you don't get stuck paying for slow technicians or for run-around time for parts and other materials.  For more information, click here to learn about up front pricing.

Can you tell me exactly how much this service job will cost?

At Grand Lake Plumbing we believe you deserve to be quoted an accurate price based upon your exact problem.  We utilize a flat rate pricing approach which means that you know the price up-front before the work begins.  You don't have to worry that the repair job will balloon into something unexpected.  Our trained Service Technician will give you a detailed description of the service work that needs to be done to get your plumbing and/or heating back in top working condition and will only proceed with those repair after you give the authorization.  For more information, click here to learn about up front pricing.

If I schedule a service call, what time will your service technician get there?

We can usually approximate our arrival time within a two-hour window.  Our policy is to stay on a service call until that job gets done, regardless of how long it takes.  Therefore, when we have to spend extra time to ensure that the customer's service work is done thoroughly to meet our high standards, our arrival times may vary.  In every instance, you will receive a phone call when our technician is on their way.

Can you bill me?

All of our service work is C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery).  We accept cash, personal checks or credit cards.  For your convenience, we would be happy to keep your credit card on file at the office.

How can I prevent the pipes in my home from freezing?

Frozen pipes are a common occurence during sub-zero weather in Colorado.  Pipes that have frozen in the past are obvious candidates for special attention.  It's important to keep a heat source close by.  In the case of bathroom pipes enclosed in vanities or cabinets, leave the doors open during frigid weather so the heat from the room can penetrate the enclosures.

If a pipe does burst, there's not much you can do except mop up the area and get the pipe repaired. An ounce of prevention is worth many pounds of this cure!  At Grand Lake Plumbing, we sell devices for pipes that are imbedded with electrical coils to provide an outside heat source.

If you go to another residence for the winter or leave on extended vacations, it is suggested that you call a professional plumbing contractor to shut down and drain all water supplies, fixtures, heat and electrical sources.  Grand Lake Plumbing would be happy to offer this service to you.

You might also consider an automatic Water Shut Off to protect your home when you are not there.

How often should I have my boiler and heating system checked?

We recommend that you schedule a heating system check annually.  This includes boilers, hydronic heating systems, forced air furnaces, geo-thermal and solar systems.  This will ensure that your heating system is in top-notch working condition and will reduce the possibility of frozen water pipes in the winter months.  Heating Service Partner Plan members receive an annual heating inspection free of charge!

What is a Service Partner Plan?

Grand Lake Plumbing is pleased to offer Service Partner Plan Agreements.  With our Service Partner Plan Agreements, we offer our customers peace of mind and a way to help manage costs.  Some highlights of the plan include a 15% discount on plumbing and heating services, priority dispatch and free ongoing safety inspections.  Click here for more information on our Service Partner Plan Agreements.
